Monique Marie Hopkins

Monique Marie Hopkins, age 86, of Weatherford, passed away peacefully at a local nursing home on Sunday, July 26, 2020. Monique was born in Villers-sur-Meuse, France on March 7, 1934 to Victor and Georgette Montulet. She traveled most of her life living all over the world. She loved to read and crochet, she loved plants and flowers, cooking, traveling, and most importantly her family. She was known as a very adventurous person and loved being around people. Monique had a dog named Phoebe that she spoke French to, and Phoebe understood every word. She loved the United States of America and was very patriotic. She often reminisced about how growing up all over the world taught her to be appreciative of the American culture as she was a survivor of the Nazi Occupies France era. She always wanted others to understand how blessed they are to live in the USA. Monique worked at Fort Wolters Air Force Base in Mineral Wells until it closed and most recently at the American Legion in Mineral Wells until retirement in 2011. 

Her survivors include, children, Thomas Hopkins (Darla) of Mineral Wells, John Hopkins (Sandy) of Weatherford, James Hopkins of Weatherford, Gerard Hopkins (Ann) of Weatherford, Robert Hopkins (Debbie) of Weatherford, Shirley Edwards of Weatherford, Sheila Frazier (Jim) of Tuscola, Texas, Michelle Campbell (Tim) of Portland, OR, Colette Gopffarth (Lance) of Fort Worth, and Josette Johnson of Weatherford, siblings, Rolande, Bernadette, and Andre all of France, 23 grandchildren and 49 great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by Carol Hopkins, Rex Hopkins, Alex Hopkins, Que Edwards, and Joe Gomez.

Monique’s family would like to encourage all military, active and retired, to wear their uniforms as that was something that always brought a smile to Monique’s face.
