Monte C. Martin, 83, passed away peacefully at his home northwest of Weatherford, on Saturday, May 28.
Monte was born January 7, 1939, to Harry Edward (Ed) and Ruby Martin, in Fort Worth. He graduated from Polytechnic High School class of ’57 - to quote the song “They had a dream.” In 1967 after working full time and attending Texas Wesleyan University part time, he graduated with a BBA.
Monte began his business career in 1957 in Fort Worth at Pioneer American Insurance Co. He said, “from the mail room to the Manager of Data Processing in 11 years and one 10-year watch.” From that beginning, he was employed as a Systems Analysis at First National Life Ins. in Houston, Life and Casualty/American General Insurance in Nashville, ScoreREinsurance in Dallas, and finished his career in 2006 at Rodney D. Young Ins. in Dallas.
In 1958 Monte met his wife, Nancy, at church in Fort Worth where he was participating in a DeMolay presentation. They were married on November 23, 1963, one day after the Kennedy assassination.
Monte will be remembered always ready to burst out in song with his wife, having a smile on his face and always wanting others to laugh and smile with him.
Monte was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Eddie Martin.
Monte is survived by his wife, Nancy Martin; daughter, Amy Roberts and husband, Dierk of Weatherford; son, Matthew Martin and wife, Hope of Grand Prairie; grandchildren: Karri Roberts, Kristi Roberts, Michael Martin (Katy), and Mackenzie Martin; great-granddaughter, Kinsley Martin; nephew, Dr. Dale Martin, wife, Julia, and son, Robert of Arlington; and brother-in-law, Dr. Steve Nelsen of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Couts Memorial United Methodist Church, in Weatherford, on Monday, June 6, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Marilyn Jones officiating. Burial following at Tin Top Cemetery, in Weatherford. Visitation is from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Sunday, June 5, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, in Weatherford.
