Mr. Murry Messimer, age 79, died on Sunday, February 20, 2011 in Weatherford, Texas. He was born on June 2, 1931 to Henry and Willie Dixon Messimer in Strawn, Texas. He was a longtime resident of Weatherford and worked for the City of Weatherford for 31 years as a supervisor in the water department. Murry served in the Army during Korean War. He was an active member of the Parker County Wood Chippers.
He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Mary Lou Messimer of Weatherford; daughters, Sheila Duncan of Weatherford and Dawn Messimer of Weatherford; sons, Malcom Messimer and wife, Debbie of Weatherford and James Messimer of Weatherford; sister, Mary Robertson and husband, Ross of Weatherford; grandsons, Dwight, Todd, Chad, Randall, Stephen, Caleb Messimer; granddaughter, Mary Moore; great-great grandchildren, London Messimer, Emma Thompson, Darian Messimer, Tyler and Ethan Messimer, Cybill Moore, Dillon Moore and Cody Moore.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Lee Roy Messimer, Grady Myrle Messimer and Doyce Messimer.
Family visitation will be Monday, February 21, 2011 at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jerry Miller officiating and burial to follow in the East Greenwood Cemetery.
