Myrna Loy Smith of Garner, Texas, was a devoted and caring wife, mother and nana. She left this world January 26, 2021, at the age of 84. Myrna was born to L.H. and Vivian Turner of Strawn, Texas, on May 18th 1936. She was the youngest of two children.
Myrna attended Tarleton University where she met her husband, Vaughan Smith. The two were married on November 23, 1955, and had three daughters. Myrna worked years for the Army Corp of Engineers, sold real estate and sold Avon. She will be remembered for her spunk, loyalty, and take charge attitude. Myrna loved many things. She was known by many for her amazing cakes she made. She was an avid 42 player, and Cowboy and Rangers fan. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family especially her seven grandkids and six great grand kids. No one loved getting their picture taken in the winner’s circle when one of their race horses won more than Myrna did.
Myrna is survived by her husband, Vaughan Smith of Garner; daughter, Anita Whitehead of Shreveport, Lousiana and her husband, Emery; grandchildren, B.J. Fellows of Garner, Christie Plumlee, Jackie Pilgrim of Whitt and her family, Leslie Zaragoza of Kennedale and her family, Shane Whitehead of Louisville, Kentucky, Jessica Love of Mansfield, Louisiana and her husband, Natasha Beatley of Shreveport, Louisiana and her family.
Myrna was preceded in death by her daughters, Cindy Fellows and Debra Smith.
Visitation: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 28, 2021, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. Graveside service: 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 29, 2021, at Bethesda Cemetery, in Garner. The family ask in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Our Daily Bread program at Bethesda UMC that feeds school children in the local area.
