Nancy Stevenson Bickers

February 16, 1938 — June 24, 2018

Nancy Stevenson Bickers, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, went home to the Lord on Sunday, June 24th, 2018, after an extended illness. She was born in Elyria, Ohio, on February 16, 1938, to Archie and Grace Stevenson. 

After graduating from McCallum High School and while attending the University of Texas she met and married Thomas E. Bickers, Sr. Nancy obtain her Bachelor degree and Master’s degree from the University of Texas.

During the next many years, she lived her life to the fullest. Nancy Bickers was a mother, taught piano lessons, was the church organist, and became the Director of Religious Education and the Associate Pastor of Hyde Park Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Austin, Texas. Nancy was then selected to be the first Executive Director of the Highland Lakes Battered Women’s Center in Marble Falls, Texas and then he went on staff with Texas Council on Family Violence. After leaving the Texas Council on Family Violence she had her own counseling service.

She was mother to Thomas E. Bickers, Jr. (Carol) of Grand Prairie, Texas, Dr. Kenneth Bickers (Laura) of Longmont, Colorado, Dr. Jay Bickers (Rhonda) of Weatherford, Texas, and Lisa Warren (Leonard) of Cheyenne, Wyoming. She was the grandmother to Chris Bickers (Kyndl), Bethany Lankenau (Matt), Rebekah (Akim) Singthao, Matthew Bickers, Steven Bickers, Kevin Bickers, Johnny Bickers, Chevy Bickers, Kenza Warren, Johnathan Warren, Asha Warren, Tirzah Warren, and foster grandmother to Jacob Allen. She was great grandmother to Lily Lankenau, Ella Lankenau, Kate Lankenau, and Oliver Singthao.

She and her husband, Thomas Bickers Sr., after retirement in 1997, spent the next nineteen years traveling the United States and Europe which included ten years of full-time RVing.
She left a legacy of family and love and though she will be sorely missed, is now with the angels.

Nancy Bickers’ Celebration of Life will be held at the Silverado Cowboy Church, 4000 I-20, Weatherford, Texas 76088, on Saturday, June 30th, 2018, at 2:00 p.m.

The family asks that no flowers be sent. In lieu of flower, donations should be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or to a charity of your choice.
