Norma June Plowman

Norma June Plowman, 86, of Weatherford passed from this life Thursday, March 24, 2022. She was born to James Milton and Grace (Barry) Coates on August 25, 1935. Norma was a gifted seamstress, former Girl Scout leader, loved singing, and loved her family. She and her husband J.V. Plowman worked for Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel since 1955 and owned the business for over 47 years. She had a compassionate spirit and comforted many families during her lifetime. Norma was a former member of The Weatherford Lioness Club and supported many local charities and foundations. She was a member of The South Main Street Church of Christ.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, husband of fifty-three years, J.V. Plowman; daughter, Grace Plowman Gray; daughter-in-law, Cathy Plowman; and sister, Betty Alice Coates.

She is survived by her sons, James R. Plowman of Weatherford, and Bill Plowman and wife, Melinda of Weatherford; seven grandchildren, Holly Heatley of Weatherford, James D. Plowman of Weatherford, Misty Engel and husband, Travis of Roanoke, Eli Heatley and wife, Eva of Buchanan Dam, Angie Hernandez and husband, Jose of Peaster, Yancee Plowman and wife, Sydney of Weatherford, and Reid Plowman and wife, Edid of Weatherford; brother, Jim Coates and wife, Joanne of Authon; twelve great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson, countless friends and extended family also survive.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 27, 2022, 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., in the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. With Funeral service Monday, March 28, 2022, 10:00 a.m., in the South Main Street Church of Christ with Minister Michael Lum officiating. Interment will follow next to her husband in East Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford.

The community of Weatherford has suffered a tremendous loss, but Norma Plowman will never be forgotten.
