Paul Gerald Fuller

On November 11, 2017, in Fort Worth, Texas, Paul Gerald Fuller joined the Fuller and Penny Clan in heaven. God needed a few new stories to tell the angels. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Sebie Lee Fuller and Lillie Florence Penny, and five sisters and five brothers. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lou Ann Fuller; two sons, Paul G. Fuller, II “Jerry” (wife, Samantha), and Stewart W. Fuller (wife, Nadine); five grandsons, Paul G. Fuller, III “Trey” (wife, Ashley), and Sebie J. Fuller of Arlington, Texas, and Nathan F. Fuller, Joseph T. Fuller, and Matthew M. Fuller of Fort Worth, Texas; three great-grandsons, Paul IV, Zane, and Grayson of Arlington; one sister, Joyce Lake, of Linden, Texas, and one brother, Sebie L. Fuller of Plano, Texas; one sister-in-law, Lynn Foshee (husband, Ben) of Texarkana, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 16, at the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, in Weatherford. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the funeral chapel. Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 17, at Corinth Cemetery in Linden, Texas.

Paul was born October 10, 1928, as the eleventh child of Sebie Lee Fuller and Lillie Florence Penny. Paul was born on a farm at their home in Almira, Texas.

He graduated from Linden High School and later attended East Texas State College at Commerce, Texas. Before graduating, Paul was drafted and entered the U. S. Army on December 7, 1950 to serve in the Korean Conflict. He did his basic training at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas, and then was deployed to Korea. There he was processed into the Service Company Unit of the 35th Regiment of the 25th Division.

He returned to Linden as a disable veteran. Soon after returning, he met the love of his life at a friend’s party in Kildare, Texas. He and Ann married on July 1, 1955, in Texarkana, Texas, at Rose Hill Baptist Church. They lived in Linden, Texas, for three years, working at his brother Orville’s Hardware Store and during which time their first son Paul II “Jerry” was born. Paul decided to use the Disable Veterans Bill to attend college. He and his young family moved in 1959 to Commerce, Texas, for him to attend East Texas State College. He graduated in August of 1962, with Bachelor of Science and a Master of Business Administration degrees.

After graduation he acquired a job with Weatherford College as a teacher in the Business Department. When computer science was in its infancy, Paul took his first course at IBM in Dallas in the summer of 1963, and he began teaching the first computer course at Weatherford College in the fall of 1963. Through the years Paul served the College as Business Manager and Dean of Occupational Education. He loved Weatherford College and the part he played in building the new campus on the hill. At that time he joined First Baptist Church of Weatherford.

Throughout his working years, Paul served on the City of Weatherford Planning and Zoning Board, Federal Housing Authority Board, Weatherford Industrial Plan, Inc. (President from 1980-81), Parker County Committee on Aging Board, serving for a time as Chairman of that Board. He always felt that one of his greatest accomplishments was helping to start the Senior Service Center. He was at one time or another member of the Weatherford Optimist Club and Rotary International (President 1975-76). He was Rotarian of the Year 1978-79. He was a member of the Linden Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and Parker County Shriners. Until poor health intervened, He was also an active member of the Parker County Wood Chippers, a group of very talented wood carvers, and a member of the Parker County Retired Teachers.

He was a loving husband and doting father who always had time for his sons, grandsons, and family. He will be missed!
