Phillip “Phil” Craig Mathison, 66, of Weatherford, passed away early Friday, November 18, 2016, at Baylor All Saints Hospital in Fort Worth after a short battle with cancer.
A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N. Elm Street, in Weatherford. Visitation will be held from 10 am until the time of the service, Saturday, at the funeral home. Burial will be private at Annetta Cemetery at a later date.
Phil was born July 2, 1950, in Weatherford, Texas. Phil married Rhonda Roberson on August 28, 1968 and together had two children, Todd and Tonya. He worked as a Milk Man for Oak Farms Dairy for nearly 40 years. Earlier in his career, Phil work his way up from sacker to Store Manager of Buddy’s Grocery in Weatherford/Graham. He was a long-time member of South Side Baptist Church in Weatherford. An avid sports fan, Phil enjoyed both watching and “coaching” any and all sports. Most of all, Phil cherished time spent with his family – and was affectionately known as “Papa” to his grandkids.
Phil is survived by his children, Todd (Dawn) Mathison and Tonya (Cody) Martin; grandchildren, Taylor Mathison, Chris Willmer, Ty and Kodilyn Martin; sisters, Kay Sikes and Pam Mathison; sister-in-law, Pat Mathison; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Phil was recently preceded in death by his wife, Rhonda in August; and by his brothers, James and Namon Mathison
