On Sunday, October 18, 2020, Phillip John Barnett, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away at the age of 77. Phil was the fourth child of Jesse Seibert James Barnett and Opal Frances Woodruff Barnett born in Evansville, Indiana. He served his country as an Arterial Surveyor in Europe for the Army from 1961 to 1964. He graduated from the University of Evansville receiving a degree in Engineering in 1971 and had worked in the Professional Engineering Industry ever since, owning his own Engineering Firm for over 30 years in Weatherford.
He married the love of his life, Barbara Schiele, and they had just recently celebrated their 53rd anniversary. They raised two daughters, Nichol and Natalie. Phillip was a quiet, kind, hard-working family man who loved to laugh with his grandchildren and travel with his wife. He loved his family deeply and even surprised his wife with a wedding vow renewal ceremony on the beach in Hawaii for their 50th anniversary.
Phil was preceded in death by his father, Jesse, and his mother, Opal, as well as sisters, Dixie Crane and Opal McBride.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; and his daughters, Nichol (Matt) Herron and Natalie (Josh) Schneider; and his grandchildren, Emilie Herron, Ethan Herron, Zach Schneider, Zoe Schneider, Mylee Herron, and Maverick Herron. He is also survived by his sisters, Ginger (Gerry) Tuley and Phyllis (Jerry) Scales of Indiana, and lots of nieces and nephews.
The viewing is at 1:00 p.m., October 21, 2020, with the funeral following at 2:00 p.m., at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
