  Prentice Byron “Barney” Smith, age 92, of Weatherford, died Sunday evening, November 21, 2010, in a local nursing facility. Born November 16, 1918, in Oakland City, Indiana, a resident of Weatherford and Parker County for many years, he was a Veteran of World II, Korean, and Vietnam War. Barney served as Air Force Tail Gunner and Senior Master Sergeant.   

  He was a member of the Hilltop Baptist Church, Shriners, Masonic Phoenix Lodge, Weatherford Whirlaways Square Dance Club and the AARP. 

  He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine  “Jerri” Smith, on October 27, 2010. 

  Survivors: sons, Mitchell Smith and wife, Debbie of Weatherford, Rodney Smith and wife, Cindy of White Settlement, and Joe Smith and wife, Frankie of Weatherford; grandchildren, Jeff, Jay, Brian, Jeffrey, Jake, Logan, and Devon Smith; and two great grandchildren.

  Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 24, 2010, in the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, with interment in East Greenwood Cemetery.

  Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 23, 2010, at the funeral home. Memorials may be sent to Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas.
