Rayford Daniel Goodnight

September 30, 1916 — November 8, 2010

Rayford Daniel Goodnight of Weatherford, Texas, passed from this earthly place into his heavenly home Monday, November 8, 2010. He was born August 31, 1916, in Quanah, Texas, to William Oren Goodnight and Eliza Maria Billings Goodnight. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 72 years, Beatrice Goodnight, one brother, Frank Goodnight, and two sisters, Lena Louise Goodnight and Lorene Schoolcraft. He is survived by two children and their spouces, James and Rochelle Goodnight and Nancy and Meredith Hard; four grandchildren, Julie Goodnight, Dr. Steve Hard and his wife Barbara, William Goodnight and his wife Rhonda, Brian Goodnight and his wife Wendy; seven great grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Jameson; several niecies and nephews. He and his wife Bea lived in McKinney before moving to Weatherford. Before that they live almost thirty years in "the hill country" where he owned and operated The Hobby Shop, a master framer studio. Ray spent a number of years selling oil field equipment before retiring and moving to the Hill Country. Ray was a Texas Aggie and member of the Masonic Lodge. He had served in numerous capacities in the Methodist Church such as Sunday School Superintendent. He is known for his dry sence of humor and love of dominoes. Most of all he loved his family and his friends.
 
Memorial service is planned for Saturday, November 13, at 4:00 pm at Weatherford United Methodist Church, 101 S. Main.  Visitation will be before hand at 3:00 in the Family Life Center.  He and my mother requested that memorials be made to United Methodist Church of your choice.
