Ricardo “Rick” Cordova, 43, of Weatherford, Texas, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend passed away on Saturday morning, August 21, 2021, in Fort Worth, Texas.
Rick was born on August 3, 1978, in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico, to Francisco and Cristina Cordova. He grew up in Mercedes, Texas, in the Rio Grande Valley.
Rick married Shelly Cockerham on June 12, 2005, in Weatherford, Texas. He was most proud of their 9-year-old son, Benjamin Thomas, and cherished time spent playing soccer, camping, and stargazing together. Rick loved cooking, golfing, soccer, listening to metal music, and spending time with family and friends. He was a Marvel and DC Comics enthusiast with a passion for all things sci-fi and quite the history buff. Rick graduated from Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He enjoyed his career as a Loan Officer with Bank of America.
Rick is survived by his wife, Shelly; his son, Benjamin; his father and stepmother, Francisco and Raquel Cordova; and by his brothers, Francisco Cordova, Jr. and wife, Missy; Alejandro Cordova and wife, Cristina; Alberto Cordova and wife, Yvette; Jesus Cordova and wife, Catalina; and sister, Cristy and husband, Miguel Reyes; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His mother, Cristina Cordova, preceded Rick in death.
A memorial visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at the Galbreath Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N. Elm Street, in Weatherford. A memorial service celebrating Rick’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home followed by a private burial at Dicey Cemetery, in Weatherford.
Rick will be affectionately remembered for his contagious laugh and smile, sense of humor, and selfless personality.
