Richard Allen Flatt was called to heaven, Monday, January 31, 2022. Seven years to the day he lost a beloved grandson, Derek Brown. Also preceding him in death are his parents, Sylvester and Stella Flatt; brothers, Robert and Donald Flatt; sister, Velma Nabors; and nephew, Ricky Linthicum.
He is survived by his children, Gayle Kassul, Trina Ogle, Raymie Harris, Rhonda Marlow, Stephanie Bartug, and son, Brad Norman; fifteen grandchildren, Daniel Wallace, Bryce Horton, Cody Flatt, Derek Brown, Lauren Moody, Tanner Moody, Fayte Wallace, JJ Wallace, Hailey Gutierrez, Libby Marlow, Levi Marlow, Bella Bartug, Bradley Norman, Austin Norman, and Nevaeh Flatt; great grandchildren, Alanna Wallace, Dustin Wallace, Brylen Horton, Beckett Horton, Lyric Gutierrez, Lylah Gutierrez, Lyvly Gutierrez, Frankie Moody, Kayleigh Moody, Hudson Norman, Lilah Norman, and Vivian Norman, due May 2022, Noah Denson; brothers, Charles and Ronnie Flatt; sisters, Cleta Becker and Mablene Linthicum; and lots of nephews and nieces.
Richard was a Marine and served during the Vietnam War. He was also an avid golfer; the course was his church. He had many friends he golfed with regularly for 40+ years. Having grandchildren opened a softer side to him. They were his pride and joy. He would joke that it takes a real man to make a girl and he made five. His sense of humor was colorful. He will be greatly missed by all. A huge void is left in our souls.
