Wayne was born in Weatherford, Texas on October 3, 1953 to John and Elaine Berkley. Wayne graduated from Weatherford High School in 1972, served his country in the United States Air Force, and earned an associate degree from Cooke County Junior College in 1981. Wayne made a career as a technical engineer working for IBM and Siemens.
Wayne loved nature, his country, and most of all, his family. He was a very wise, humble, and generous man. Wayne became a father at the age of 19 years old, when he married Deborah Lynn Hall and took over the role as “daddy” to her one-year-old daughter. From that point on, his most important life decisions revolved around the wants and needs of his children and, subsequently, his grandchildren. His grandchildren have many fond memories of shooting bows, learning valuable life lessons and skills, and watching superhero movies with their Grandpa. In all reality, to his grandchildren, Grandpa was a real-life superhero. Wayne was an avid motorcycle rider. He loved riding with the wind down old country roads on his Harley.
Wayne was preceded in death by his brother and sister: Mike Berkley of Washington and Suzanne Allen of Oklahoma.
Wayne is survived by his parents; his sister: Malissa Berkley; his daughters: Shelly Burgerson & husband Randy, and Jennifer Berkley; his grandchildren: Hayden Berkley & Zach Hale, Brooklyn Butler, Tristan Berkley, Alyssa Butler, Aubrey Marshall, Glenn Butler, and Blake Burgerson; three great grandchildren; special niece: Luanna Berkley of Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Solaris Hospice, especially Leslie Merchant for her loving care.
