Robert Lee Peoples, Sr.

  Robert Lee Peoples, Sr. was born on December 26, 1929, in Bristow, Oklahoma, to the proud parents of Johnnie R. and Gladys Rosie Oletha Peoples.

  Robert was united in marriage to Maudelene Welch on September 25, 1954. Their union was blessed with three children, two boys and one girl. He later went on to enlist in the United States Army in 1948. During his time in the military, he was deployed to Germany and was awarded several decorations, badges, and honors as a Sergeant First Class. After 21 years of service, he was later honorably discharged on September 29, 1969. He and Maudelene would settle in Weatherford, Texas to raise their family, where Robert worked in management at Southern Airways and Master Shield to provide for his family. Early Tuesday morning, November 7, 2023, Robert was called home to be with Lord and a host of loved ones and friends.

  Robert Lee Peoples, Sr. was preceded in death by his mother and father, Gladys and Johnnie Peoples; sisters, Elvin Lenell Osbourne and Rosie Williams; brothers, George H., Lavorn, Archie, Clifford, and Andrew; and daughter, Erna R. Lacy.

  He leaves behind to cherish his memory, sister, Troja; children, Robert Jr. (Karen) and Wayne C. (Alice) Peoples; sister-in-law, Wanda Sanders; grandchildren, Wayne, Marcus, Desiree, Timeshia, Quentin, and Briana; great grandchildren, Ty, Micah, Mekhi, Mercie, Mecrie, Gabbie, Asher, and Soliel.

  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086. Following the service, burial will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery, in Weatherford, Texas.

  The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 10, 2023, at the funeral chapel.
