Robert Leon Harris

Robert Leon Harris, passed away peacefully at age 81, Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at his residence. Robert was born May 27, 1941, in Benavides, Texas, to Gerald Harris and Shirley Williams Harris.

Robert and his family moved to Corpus Christi when he was an infant, he spent his youth there. Robert and Joyce moved to Weatherford, Texas in 1977 and became lifelong residents. Robert proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and National Guard. Upon graduating the police academy, he began his career with the Fort Worth Police Department. Robert graduated from Tarleton State University in 1994 with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He also worked for the Westover Hills Police Department for many years, where he later retired. 

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Robert enjoyed fly fishing, working on his Jeep, traveling to Alaska, and most loyal companions, his dogs. Robert was a member of Aledo Church of Christ. He loved his family and friends and will be missed dearly by all.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents.

Robert is survived by his wife, Joyce La Vonne Harris of Weatherford, Texas; daughter, Amy Martinez and husband, Andy of Brock, Texas; son, Robert L. Harris II and wife, Jennifer of Mansfield, Texas; sister, Yvonne Deuell of Richmond, Texas; brother, Jerry Harris and wife, Diane of Huntsville, Texas; grandchildren, Jayde Martinez, Paige Martinez, Brady Harris, and Ryder Harris; and great-grandson, Charlie Meisner.

Visitation 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 13, 2022, at the Galbreaith Pickard Hilltop Chapel, 4941 I-20 Frontage Rd., Willow Park, Texas 76087.
Memorial Service 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at the Aledo Church of Christ, 201 FM 1187 South, Aledo, Texas 76008.
