Robert Lewis Wilson, 79, of North Richland Hills, passed early on Thursday, February 23, 2017, in Fort Worth.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, February 27, at Spring Creek Baptist Church, 508 Spring Creek Road (Highway 51) south of Weatherford. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m., until the time of the service, at the church. Burial will be held at Spring Creek Cemetery next to the church. Memorial donations may be made to either the Pythian Home or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Robert was born October 21, 1937. He was one of three sons born to Odis and Lucile Wilson on a family farm in Parker County.
Robert was a devout, life-time Christian. He served his country in the U.S. Army. On December 23, 1960, Robert married Lena Hickerson and together had two sons, Robert, Jr. and David. Robert ‘never met a stranger’ and was a friend to everyone he met. He was a Knight of the Pythians for many years. Robert will be remembered as a handy-man and for ‘liking things done his way.’ Following retirement, Robert enjoyed taking care of his parent’s farm. He always put his family first. Robert cherished time spent with his family – particularly his children and grandchildren.
Robert is survived by his wife, Lena, of 56 years; sons, Robert (Denise) Wilson, Jr. and David (Trena) Wilson; grandchildren, Rachael, Danielle, Megan, Calvin, and Emily; his brother, WilIie J. Wilson; brother-in-law, Wendell (Lisa) Hickerson; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his brother, Grady Wilson.
