Roger Basil Struzick, 85, passed away on February 25, 2019 surrounded by his family.
A graveside service will be on Friday, March 1, 2019 at Bethel Cemetery beginning at 2:00 pm.
Roger was born on April 18, 1933 in Kansas City, MO to Viola and Walter Struzick. Roger grew up in a time where you grew most of what you ate and you ate together as a family and the concept of family was extended to anybody who was sitting at the table. To Roger, a formal dining table was a table designed for 6 that could seat 20. Family is what defined Roger’s life, being a part of the family, providing for the family, raising his family and celebrating life with his family. Roger was married to Marilyn Struzick and they had their two children Corrina and Reece. Roger served in the army as corporal for company C of the 7th engineering brigade, worked for Hearst papers for 30 years and for Lockheed Martin for 28 years. Whether it was at work or at home, Roger loved inventing, creating and fixing anything he could get his hands on, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Whether it was taking the family camping at Yosemite National Park or at Carpentaria Beach in California, or taking his son motorcycle riding up in the mountains, Dad was always looking for ways to spend time with his family. So, next time you are having dinner with the family, squeeze the chairs together and make room for one more chair for Dad, his legacy will be with us for a long time to come.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Struzick; daughter, Corrina Struzick (Duane Smith); son, Reece Struzick (Claudia); grandchildren, Janine Echols (Cody Matthew), Nathan Struzick (Amber), Joshua Struzick, Kaylin Smith, Juliet Smith, and Tyler Smith; great grandchildren Rosalie Struzick, Noah Echols and Jonah Echols; and host of loving friends.
