Roger Leon Coomer

Services for Roger “Leon” Coomer, 77, of Weatherford will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 16, at First Baptist Church of Weatherford with Lyndale Holloway officiating. He died Sunday, July 12, at Medical City Weatherford after a brief battle with cancer.

Leon was born Sept. 12, 1942, to Joseph and Artie Coomer of Springtown. He was a graduate of North Texas State University, a former math and science teacher and retired from Lockheed Martin after 26 years.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Weatherford.

Leon is survived by his wife, Verna, of 55 years; daughters Laura Childress and son Luke of Oak Point, Cheryl Howell, husband Charles and children Kaylee and Wyatt of McKinney, and Karen Denney, husband Paul and daughters Norah and Lila of Fort Worth.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Weatherford or to the Weatherford College Foundation for the Leon and Verna Coomer Scholarship.
