Roy Alvin Neese

May 2, 1935 — September 16, 2020

Roy Alvin Neese was born on May 2, 1935 in Memphis, Texas. He was 85 years old when he quietly passed away on September 16, 2020. Roy was known throughout as “The Mayor” because no matter where he went or who he was with he never met a stranger. So one of his bucket list items was to see all 50 states of the USA. He accomplished this on a family trip in 2019 (Ann Sr., Ann Jr, who also finished her 50 states, and Darrel & Nancy). He talked to everyone like he had known them all his life – that was Roy!

He was an anchor in the Corpus Christi, Texas community having an auto parts business that his father, Hollis Neese, opened in the 1940’s. Roy was the last owner of Hollis Neese Auto Parts and his motto was “If we don’t have it, we’ll get it!”. He also had his home phone number registered with the police department so that if anyone ever broke down on the side of the road, the police would call and he would get up, no matter what time, go down to the store, pick up the part, drive it to the location and if they didn’t know how to install it Roy would do it – at no charge!

In his life he was active in the South Texas Trail Riders Association earning a scout rank. Being an avid golfer he had been a member of Riverhills Golf Course for over 50 years. He was also very involved in the Boy Scouts holding Assistant Scout Master for several years. Roy attended Grace United Methodist Church. He also drove the cart as a volunteer for the USS Lexington. He was a Judge at CC Speedway for many years. He will be sorely missed by all that knew him.

Survived by his wife of 67 years, Ann Neese, four children, son Allen, son Darrel and his wife Nancy, son David Neese and his daughter Ann Gromer and her husband Gary Gromer. He is also survived by his sister, Lucy Neese Modzelewski. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Marie Neese and his father, Hollis Neese, his brother, Hollis Ray Neese, and grandson, Michael Lee Neese.

There will be no funeral services at this time however we will have a Celebration of Life in the future. No date is scheduled at this time. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Plant a Tree in Roy’s memory or a charity of your choice.
