Roy Wayne McGehee, 81, passed from this life on January 13, 2019. He was born to Leroy and Imogene Burnett McGehee, in Southland, Texas on October 6,1937. He married Martha Harrison in 1957, in Seminole, Texas. Roy was a farmer in west Texas for many years, then served as City Manager of Plains, Texas. He moved his family to Peaster, Texas when he took a security position at General Dynamics. In 1968, he began a 33-year career with Radio Shack Corp. This took the family to Irving, San Antonio and Weatherford, where he retired. Roy and Martha moved to Graham, Texas in 2003. His love for farming made him an avid gardener and he enjoyed passing this skill to his grandchildren. He had a passion for music, especially hymns, gospel and country music (the volume was always set on loud). He touched many lives as a Church of Christ song leader, which he did for 18 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Imogene McGehee, brother Jimmy Doyle McGehee and son, Terry Wayne McGehee.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years; Martha McGehee of Graham, son Phillip McGehee and wife Cheryl of Springtown; daughter Cristy Jeffreys of Graham; son Randy McGehee of Graham; grandchildren Alisa McGehee of Springtown, Brice McGehee of Ft. Worth, Travis Jeffreys and wife Kelly of Graham, Chelsea Nall and husband Wross of Loving; great-grandchildren Braxton Nall and Judson Jeffreys; sister-in-law Charlotte Lain McGehee of Littlefield, one niece and two nephews, lifelong best friend Pete Gist of Ft. Worth and many friends.
A family memorial service and interment of ashes will be held in Slaton, Texas at a later date.
