Rudolfo “Rudy” Avalos passed away at home surrounded by his loving family, Sunday November 24, 2013. Born March 7, 1937 in Hot Springs NM to Rito and Ramona Avalos; Rudy was one of six children. After servicing our country in the Air Force; Rudy became an instrumentalist in the construction industry. A resident of Weatherford for the past 31 years, Rudy was a member of St. Stephens Catholic Church and a 3rd degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed woodworking and was a football fan. He enjoyed watching the Washington Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys. A self-proclaimed joker, Rudy enjoyed spending time with his wife, Olivia, and their blended family.
He leaves behind his bride of 30 years, Olivia Avalos; daughters, Sonia Diaz and her husband Armando, Carmen Molinar, Julie Hawkins and her husband Garon; sons, Rudolfo Avalos, Jr. and his wife Janelle, Javier Avalos and his wife Sarah, Ernest Martinez and his wife Kathy; his sister Betty Apodaca; brothers, Benny Avalos and his wife Sally, Robert Avalos and his wife Nancy, Johnny Avalos and his wife Manuela, Jerry Avalos and his wife Faith; 19 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rito and Ramona and his daughter Norma Doyle.
A memorial service will held at St. Stephens Catholic Church, 11 a.m. Saturday, December 14, 2013.
A rosary will be held at St. Stephens, Friday at 7pm December 13, 2013.
