Ruth Jeannette Whitmire

October 1, 1949 — September 19, 2024

Ruth Jeannette Whitmire, or "Ruthie" as she was affectionately known, left us to join beloved grandson Colt, her mother and father, and our Heavenly Father, on September 19, 2024.

Born October 1, 1949, to Jack and Jeannette Willis; she was a lifelong Parker County resident, and a very cherished member of her community.

She married her loving husband, Terrell Francis Whitmire, November 22, 1983; and between them have enjoyed and shared five children, Shelia Carpenter, Angela Whitmire, Terry Kent Whitmire, LaDonna Cannon, and Bobby Whitmire; also, a host of beautiful grandchildren, Colt Bowens, Ryan Mills, Austin Carpenter, Mia Faye Whitmire, Liah Whitmire, Sherry Whitmire, Waylon Whitmire, Wyatt Whitmire, Timothy Adams, Aaron Adams, and Autumn Adams.

Ruth lived her life at the service of others and wouldn't have it any other way. She and her husband, Terrell, owned The Sportman's Cafe for several years in the early 90's. As a team they cooked up some amazing food for Parker County including her famous liver and onions.

Then she would go on to spend her time joyfully bartending and cleaning for her local V.F.W. Post 4746 and American Legion Post 163.

Ruth has been a part of the V.F.W. since before she was even the age of 21. She was happily involved in a few decades worth of carnivals, bingo nights, dances, chili cook offs, and many, many events which in one way or another gave back to her community. Her giving attitude was unwavering.

Ruth loved her local veterans. She was beyond proud to give back to them. Some of her fondest times were spent in Granbury helping cook and serve at the annual Veterans Catfish Fry where she made lifelong friends and memories.

She loved to dance and you could always count on her to be front and center at the many dances at the V.F.W. over the years.

She loved Elvis Presley, and had been given a grand amount of memorabilia, right down to a life size cardboard cutout of him.

She truly loved her family and friends.

Ruth lived a purposeful and full life being at the Hands and Feet of Jesus. She is beyond loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
