Samuel "Sam" Anthony Medina

Samuel “Sam” Anthony Medina, age 58, passed peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on May 15, 2021, spending his final week surrounded by his family and friends. Sam was born in Abilene, Texas, on January 5, 1963, and was raised in Millsap, Texas. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Olivia and Nicholas Medina, Sr., and sister, Juanita Sanchez.

Sam dedicated 20+ years to the Sonic Drive In of Weatherford, Texas, on South Main Street. He began working at the age of 15 as a carhop and worked his way up to manager and co-owner of the restaurant. He returned to college later in life to finish his degree in accounting, but found a new passion in life. He spent several of his final years working for Weatherford College as an accounting tutor who was dearly loved by the administration, teachers, and his students.

Sam said his biggest accomplishment in life was his three daughters who succeed him in death. He worked hard as a single father of Crystal Harrison, Megan Kelley, and Monica Adams. Sam was truly a man dedicated to his family and friends.

He is succeeded by his sister, Gloria Black, and brothers, Nicholas Medina, Jr. and Daniel Medina. He was also a proud grandfather to Sophia, Shana, Brittney, Samuel, and Robert.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday evening, May 20th, at the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N. Elm Street, in Weatherford. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 1:00 p.m., May 21, 2021, at the funeral home. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to make a donation to the Sam Medina Scholarship through the Weatherford College Foundation. Scholarship donations can be submitted at wc.edu/foundation by selecting the Scholarship Gift Designation and notating Sam Medina as the Tribute Name in the online form. Alternatively, checks may be sent to the WC Foundation, 225 College Park Drive, Weatherford, Texas, by notating “Sam Medina” on the memo line of your check.
