Sandra L. Prather

  Sandra L. Prather, age 77, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, entered the gates of heaven on Wednesday, November 27, 2024. Born in Fort Worth, Texas, on August 6, 1947 to parents, E.J. Collings and Pauline (Beck) Collings, Sandra will forever be celebrated for her radiant spirit and warm heart. 

  Sandra was a dedicated homemaker first and foremost. She treasured her family and embraced every moment with them. She had a sweet personality and always made people around her feel loved. Sandra's love knew no bounds; she showered her family and friends with affection, often through thoughtful gestures. Deeply devoted to her Christian faith, she drew strength and guidance from the Bible. 

  Beyond her nurturing nature, she showcased her talents in her career as a police officer in Denton, Texas and then at the DFW airport, ending her working career at General Dynamics as the first female security officer. Sandra enjoyed gold leaf painting, crafts, and spending time with others. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

  Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, E.J. and Pauline Collings; brother, Larry Collings; and son, Bryan Rasure. 

  She is survived by her husband, Wilbert Prather; step son, Paul Prather; granddaughters, Kristina Elliott and husband, Jerry, and Kayla Mullins and husband, Michael; nine great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Rama Sue Allen; many nieces and nephews; and her dear friend, Mickey. 

  The family will receive friends during a visitation from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Friday, December 6, 2024, in the stateroom at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, in Weatherford, Texas.

  Following the visitation, a graveside service will begin at 3:00 p.m., Friday, December 6, 2024, at the East Greenwood Cemetery, in Weatherford, Texas, officiated by James Plowman.

  In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to your favorite charity in memory of Sandra.
