Sandra Sue Hedger

Sandra Sue Hedger, 78, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2022, in Weatherford, Texas. 

Sandra was born on June 11, 1943, in Wichita, Kansas, to Louis Hatfield and Pearl Bay Cates. She grew up in Odessa, Texas where she met and eventually married the love of her life, Alpha Lee Hedger and remained his devoted wife and constant companion for 62 years.

A caregiver at her core and throughout her life, Sandra’s affectionate spirit was evident not only by being a loving and supportive mother to her and Alpha’s family of three sons and a daughter, but also as a beloved Aunt Nana, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Sandra and Alpha eventually moved to Possum Kingdom Lake, where their children and their families enjoyed many summers and holidays. She and Alpha enjoyed traveling, visiting friends and of course, took pride in watching and celebrating their grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s accomplishments and activities.

Sandra is survived by her children, Allan Hedger and his wife, Ellen, Brian Hedger and his wife, Lisa, Dennis Hedger, Crissy Hedger Welch and her husband, Shawn; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Sandra is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Richard Hatfield and Jerry Hatfield; sister, Pamela Craig; grandson, Cory Welch; and her devoted husband, Alpha, who passed away in February of this year.

A memorial service for both Sandra and Alpha will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, located at 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas.
