Sealy Barton Smith

Sealy Barton Smith, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 in Weatherford, Texas.  
Sealy was born November 4, 1925 to D.V. and Elna Barton Smith in Santa Anna, Texas.  He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II as a tail gunner on a B-24, flying thirteen combat missions over Germany.  Following the war Sealy returned to Texas, married and settled down to raise a family.  He was a television station manager in Monahans, Texas for several years before becoming a Christian and entering the ministry.  He graduated from Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas in 1965 and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth in 1970.  Sealy pastored several Baptist churches in Texas including Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Weatherford during the ‘60’s and ‘70’s.  He retired in 2004 from First Baptist Church, Brazoria, Texas where he served as Senior Adult Minister.   
He was preceded in death by his  wife, Wanda Fayne Smith; parents, D.V. and Elna Smith; sisters, Katherine Hogan and Peggy McCoy; brothers, Jim Smith and Ronald “Butch” Smith.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories, daughter, Sharon Conway and husband, Chris, of Fort Worth, Texas; sons, Terry Smith and wife, Laticia of Fort Worth, Texas, Greg Smith and wife, Donna of Brazoria, Texas, and Ronnie Warren and wife, Penny of Weatherford, Texas; daughter, Jayme Parks of Lesterville, MO; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; sister, Gayla Lynch and husband, Jon of Fort Worth, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews.

mission fund of First Baptist Church of Brazoria PO Box 2007 Brazoria,
Texas 77422.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 2 PM
at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel in Weatherford, Texas with Rev.
Weldon Dougherty officiating with interment to follow in the East
Greenwood Cemetery.  

Visitation will be Saturday, October 26, 2013 prior to the service.
