Sharon Puckett Holt

September 5, 1945 — August 13, 2024

Sharon Puckett Holt was born September 5, 1945, in Paragould, Arkansas, and went home to be with Jesus August 13, 2024, at the age of 78.

Sherry grew up in Caraway, Arkansas, and graduated in 1963 from Caraway high school. Her upbringing was deeply influenced by her parents’ work as cotton farmers and their profound faith in Christ. She attended Arkansas State University, Williams Baptist University, and Midwestern University.

Sherry met Rex in 1963. After three refusals she agreed to go out with him on his fourth attempt. Persistence pays. They were married on June 28, 1964 and recently celebrated their 60th anniversary.

Sherry and Rex’s mission work took them to Togo, West Africa, from 1975 to 1984, following a year in language school in Tours, France. Upon returning to the U.S., they pastored churches in Arkansas, California, and Texas.

In 2019, Sherry and Rex with the help of their children in the U.S. and spiritual children in Africa started a non-profit called Le Pont International - a bridge to Africa. Their vision is to Educate Children, Empower Communities, and Equip Churches to transform lives and communities who will in turn impact the world with the Gospel.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Oneida (1989) and Henry Puckett (1993). She is survived by her husband, William Rex Holt of Weatherford, Texas; her sister, Kandis Renee Sledge of Tunica, Mississippi; and her brother, Tim Puckett of Hernando, Mississippi.

Sherry leaves behind a son, John Mawuli Holt and his wife, Anne of Aledo, Texas; two daughters, Sarah Kafui Kappen and her husband, William, and Rebekah Mawumenyo Acker and her husband, Nicholas of Ventura, California; and six grandchildren, Madeline Delali Holt, Zoe Mawulolo Acker, William Wyatt Holt, Sophie Elise Holt, Liam Esse Acker, and Baxley Boz Acker.

Sherry’s passion in life was to know Christ and to make him known to others. Her home (Le Foyer) was the context of her ministry of hospitality and encouragement. The Lord gave her three children in response to African prayer after 17 years of marriage. She never stopped marveling and recounting her stories of God’s goodness and power.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Le Pont International in Sherry’s honor. www.abridgetoafrica.org.

Sherry’s legacy is one of dedication, love and compassion. She will be remembered with great affection by those whose lives she touched.

A visitation is scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, in Weatherford, Texas.
