Shelby Renee Prewett

Shelby Renee Prewett, age 30, departed this life on Friday, August 30, 2024. Born on April 4, 1994, in Weatherford, Texas, she was the cherished daughter of Renee Nichols Prewett. 

From a young age, Shelby demonstrated a remarkable spirit, overcoming challenges with an inspiring strength. Diagnosed at four years old with a rare Chromosome 8 deletion, her journey was unique—there were only 14 known cases similar to hers in the world at the time. 

Despite her challenges, Shelby’s vibrant personality and determination drew people to her. She had an amazing drive to conquer anything she set her mind to. She was warmly embraced by her peers throughout her academic life, culminating in her graduation from Weatherford High School in 2013.

Shelby was preceded in death by her beloved maternal grandparents, Jacquie Lynn Holder and Louis Nichols, as well as her cousin, Tyler Aaron Barton.

She is lovingly remembered by her mother, Renee Prewett of Weatherford, Texas; her sister, Katelynn Steward and husband, Michael; her brother, Justin Ryan Nichols; and her sister-in-law, Annabelle Nichols.

She is also survived by her niece, Kamryn Loper; niece, Ally Loper; nephew, Maveryk Nichols; niece, Kymber Nichols; great nephews, Rhonin and Sammy, and another great peanut on the way; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other extended family members, as well as her paternal grandparents, Eugenia and Winfred Storm. 

A funeral service in celebration of Shelby’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at North Side Baptist Church, in Weatherford, Texas. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery, in Granbury, Texas.

The family invites friends to join them for a visitation on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, in Weatherford, as they gather to honor Shelby’s beautiful life and the love she brought to everyone around her.
