Sherry Ann Gerry, age 53, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at a Fort Worth Hospital. Sherry was born May 7, 1968, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Ron and Connie Parmenter.
Sherry was a loving wife, devoted mother and proud Gigi. She had opportunity to take several missions trips through her life going to a native American tribe in Arizona and to Israel during her high school years, and trips with Lance to both Honduras and Russia. She graduated from Calvary Bible College in Kansas City with an Elementary Education degree. She used that degree to homeschool both Nathan and Rebekah through high school. After college, she worked at Maranatha Bible Camp in Nebraska working in housekeeping and switchboard. She was an admin-assistant at Parker Baptist Association. She loved to sew, read and paint, and enjoyed watching British mystery and comedy shows. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Weatherford, Texas.
She always had a smile on her face and would light up any room. She was a sweet friend to many over the years. She spent time with friends in both Bible study or enjoying meals at a restaurant. She made an impact on the lives of many as she volunteered at church doing everything from children’s ministries, choir, welcoming people on Sunday mornings, organization of different committees, and helping with the hospitality ministry. She was so proud of her two grandchildren and always looked forward to the video chats and personal visits with them. She hated to admit that she enjoyed Lance’s jokes and puns, often rolling her eyes and shaking her head, but could also dish them out.
Sherry is survived by her Husband, Lance Gerry of Weatherford, Texas; daughter, Rebekah Hall and husband, Matthew of Lafayette, Louisiana; son, Nathan Gerry and wife, Ashley of Minden, Nebraska, and grandchildren, Natasha and Calvin; parents, Ron and Connie Parmenter of Phoenix, Arizona; sister, Marcella Mancini and husband, Michael of Phoenix, Arizona; and brother, Roger Parmenter and wife, Jennifer of Alliance, Ohio. She is also survived by many other family and friends.
The memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, on June 19, at 11:00 a.m. The service will also be available live streamed for those unable to attend. Memorial gifts can be made to the Missions Fund at First Baptist Church, 306 Palo Pinto Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086. There is also a Benefit Fund set up at Texas Bank Financial at 901 Santa Fe Drive, Weatherford, Texas 76086, in Lance’s name for medical and other expenses.
