Shirley Ann (Eaton) Cronenworth departed peacefully from this life on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at the age of 92. She was born July 17, 1930, in Fair Haven, Vermont to George and Stella Eaton.
Shirley was able to trace her ancestors coming to America on the Mayflower and expressed the same drive and determination as those early pioneers throughout her life. Shirley graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science in 1952. She met her husband Charles in Chicago while she was an intern dietitian and he was recovering from wounds incurred in the Korean War. Shirley worked at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa and also multiple nursing homes as a dietician; she stuck with it even though she didn’t enjoy it much and then when her sons were in school, she put herself through college, earning a teaching certificate and later her Master’s degree in Education from Sul Ross University and also competed 30 hours above her masters. Shirley taught Junior High Home Economics and later worked as a school counselor forging many lasting relationships. Her students would often recognize her everywhere in the community and start up a conversation. After retiring Shirley remained active in the community. During her time in Weatherford, she was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, the Retired Teachers Organization, and volunteered at Curtis Elementary, but she was just as dedicated to her family and was a loving homemaker and a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to many.
Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Cronenworth, Jr., and her grandson, Jacob.
Shirley is survived by her four sons, Charles Cronenworth, III and his wife, Quincy of Seminole, Texas, Kenneth Cronenworth and his wife, Donna of North Richland Hills, Texas, Jeff Cronenworth and his wife, Geri of Weatherford, Texas, and Chris Cronenworth and his wife, Stacie of Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren, Jarred and his wife, Jill, Kindra and her husband, Brice, Charles and his wife, Brittany, Michael and his wife, Paige, Sarah, and Bobby and his wife, Alexis; great grandchildren, Lilly, Thylyn, Kynlee, Lauren, Elleighana, Ryleigh, Carson, Reid, Adaline, and Bowen; and brother, Peter Eaton.
