Shirley Barnes Oatman McLeod, age 82, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 14, 2021, in Amarillo, Texas.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 20, 2021 at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel in Weatherford, Texas. Viewing hours will be from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, followed by graveside ceremony at 1:30 PM.
Shirley, fondly referred to by family, as Shu Shu was born June 16, 1939 to J.W. Barnes and Jerline Jackson in Weatherford, Texas. Having worked for the VA Health System, she retired with 26 years of dedicated Service. Her achievements were many, beginning her career as a medical stenographer, and most proudly working under the Chief of Staff as Administrative Assistant. Shirley will be remembered for her servant’s heart, opening her perfectly organized and decorated home to any and every one, and her knack for baking and sharing her wonderful recipes.
Shirley was preceded in death by her grandparents, Luther J. and Lillie J. Jackson; father, J.W. Barnes; mother, Jerline Oatman; step-father, Walter Oatman; brothers, J.L Barnes, and Leo Oatman; son, Jay Jones; and her aunt and uncle, Jo & Ray Reiss.
She is survived by a brother, Rick Oatman; a daughter, Darae Longhofer; and a son Jackson McLeod; five grandchildren, Chad Jones and wife Jen, Luke Longhofer and wife Sharra, Natalie Lewis and husband Darrell, Keela Trevino, and Brittany Jones; nine great grandchildren, Knox and Kase Longhofer, Carlton, Kelton, and London Lewis, Jenna Trevino, Lochlan and Ruari Jones, and Soren Jones; cousins, Kandy Stewart and Maryonna McFerrin; nephews, Larry and Garry Barnes.
