Shirley V. Williams

June 1, 1924 — October 21, 2012

Shirley V. Williams, a beloved wife, mother, Grammer, and Great Grammer, went home on Sunday, October 21, 2012.

Shirley was born at home on June 1, 1924, in Lawrence, Indiana. She attended Purdue University, where she met the love of her life, her husband of 68 years, Fred Williams. After Fred joined the Army Air Force, she traveled to Victoria, Texas, to pin on his wings upon his graduation from flight school. They were married in her parents home in Indiana, while Fred was on leave in 1944.

Shirley, Fred and their three children moved to Weatherford in 1962. Shirley retired as a teacher from WISD. Her natural ability to teach special students with a firm and loving hand was a blessed gift which she shared with her students with joy, a positive attitude and her wonderful laugh.

Shirley was a member of the Parker County Home Extension for over 50 years and was a active member of the WISD Retired Teachers Association for many years. She will be remembered for her loving and tender heart, her great laugh and her love and dedication to her family.

The family expresses heartfelt appreciation to many family friends, the caregivers, Arbor House and Dr. James B. Newton.
