Sonja Kay Dill Evans, 77, passed away July 10, 2020 at Medical City Hospital, Weatherford, Texas, where she lost her fight with the Covid Virus. Her husband, John Evans, was at her side.
A Memorial Service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Horseshoe Bend, 7156 Brazos Trail, Weatherford, Texas 76087, on August 1, 2020.
“Kay,” as she was called her entire life, was born March 23, 1943, to Bird and Lois Moss in Gainesville, Texas. She grew up in the Fort Worth area going to Lake Worth Grade School and High School. The family faithfully attended the Tabernacle Baptist Church there. After graduating high school, Kay went to work for Southwestern Bell and remained there for 25+ years. In 1988, she moved to Horseshoe Bend outside of Weatherford, Texas, where she enjoyed golfing and friends. She loved to travel with her friend, Carole. Kay was a longtime member, as well as Sunday School Teacher, at First Baptist Church Horseshoe Bend. She taught and lived the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Kay and John were married July 23, 2016 and became members of the North Main Church of God in Weatherford. They continued to reside at Horseshoe Bend and sang southern gospel at local nursing homes.
Survivors: husband, John D. Evans; sisters, Kathy Cannon and husband, Sandy of Mt. Vernon, Texas, and Patsy Patterson and husband, Don of Weatherford; stepchildren, Mark Dill of Denver, Colorado, LaDonna Bell and Brad of River Oaks in Fort Worth; four nephews, Ken Cannon and Tina of Mt. Vernon, Kevin Cannon and Berto of Mt. Vernon, Keith Bohanon of Fort Worth, and Bryan Bohanon and Melinda of Saginaw. She was also survived by three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
