Stanley M. Carney, age 82, of Weatherford, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015 in a Weatherford nursing center. Mr. Carney was born September 7, 1932 in Rudy, Arkansas. He was a former resident of San Juan, Texas and then retired to Alamo, Texas. Stanley was a US Army Veteran, and attended The University of Texas in Austin on a football scholarship. He was owner of Valley Spray Inc., after selling his business he continued to service farmers all across the Rio Grande Valley and into Mexico. He loved to play golf and always had a deck of cards in his hand, and was a dedicated member of Valley Culture and Progress Club. He was very active in the People’s Covenant Church, and a member of PSJA Beef Syndicate. Mr. Carney is preceded in death by his mother, Madge Carney, three brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Carney is survived by the love of life, his wife of 62 years Myrtice Carney of Weatherford, daughters, Estelle Jewell and husband Mike of Weatherford, Cheryl Clark of Weatherford, granddaughters, Natalie Gass and husband Justin of Aledo, Sarah Nurse and husband Greg of Aledo, Amy Jewell of Weatherford, grandsons, Jeffery Jones of Dallas, Derek Jones of Fort Worth and granddaughter Amanda Jones of Denton, great grandchildren, Madeleine, Lizzie, Emma, Maddox, Audrey and Stella, numerous nieces and nephews, and a very special sister-in-law Wanda Carney.
Memorial service 3:00 pm Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.
