Sylvia Diane Bowman

Sylvia Diane Bowman, 60, of Weatherford, loving mother and grandmother, passed from this life Sunday, July 11, 2021.

Sylvia was born on October 20, 1960, and was adopted by Melvin and Billye Simons, in Odessa, Texas. They moved to Weatherford, Texas in 1972 where she grew up with her older sister and younger brother. Sylvia had a strong belief in God. She was a member of Hilltop Baptist in Weatherford where she took many parts in helping out from singing in the choir, parts in pageants and plays, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, and even volunteering as the church custodian. Sylvia was a hard worker until she was not able to due to Multiple Sclerosis which she battled since 1994. No matter how much the odds were against her, she always had a smile on her face and was always in good spirits.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Billye Simons, and by her sister, Patti Clinton.

Sylvia is survived by her children, son, Matt Bowman and fiancé, Stephanie Ray, and by her daughter, Melody and husband, Danny Petree; her grandchildren, Dakota, Lilly, and Elijah Petree; and by her brother, Terry Simons and wife, Lisa; and by many cousins, nieces, and nephews; in addition to numerous friends.

The family would like to acknowledge the care Sylvia was given at College Park Rehabilitation and Care Center in Weatherford.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., on Thursday July 15, 2021, in the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N. Elm Street, in Weatherford. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 16, at the funeral home, with Graveside Service following at Curtis Cemetery.
