Sylvia Marcella Smith

  Sylvia Marcella Sullivan Smith, 85, of Weatherford, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2011, in a local nursing home. Born February 23, 1926, to Don and Tennie Sullivan, near Canjilon, New Mexico, Sylvia married Hoye Smith on August 29, 1942, and spent many wonderful years together until his passing. Mrs. Smith was a faithful member First Baptist Church of Willow Park and a member of D.A.R. Daughters of American Revolution. 

  She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Tennie Sullivan; husband, Hoye Smith; grandson, Garvis Avants; brothers, Leo, Louie, Lawrence, Clarence, Gene, John, and Delbert Sullivan; and a sister, Lucille.

  She is survived by daughter, Patricia and husband, Marvin Avants of Weatherford, Texas; daughter, Sharon (Kathy) and husband, Randall James of Austin, Texas; grandson, Gregory and wife, Della Avants of Chandler, Texas; granddaughters, Allison and husband, Jason Dredla of Lockhart, Texas, and Amanda and husband, John Hayes of Payton, Colorado; great grandchildren, Jared and wife, Ashley Sheehan-Avants of Fort Worth, Texas, Ashley Jordan Avants of  Weatherford, Texas, and Tayler and Courtney Dredla of Lockhart, Texas; great-grandsons, Noah and Caleb Avants; sisters, Clydia Chastain of Kansas and Myrtle Cook of Denison, Texas.

  The family will do a memorial service at a later date.
