Ted Taylor Richards, Sr.

Ted Taylor Richards, Sr. was born in Nolan, Texas June 29, 1924 to Charles Lee Richards and Ruby Lee Richards. He passed on to be with his beloved Lord on August 1, 2007. As a young man he enlisted in the United States Army and served during WWII in the 11th Airborne 503 Regiment as a Paratrooper and was discharged in February 1947 as a Corporal. During his enlistment he met his life partner Mildred Cox while stationed in Georgia. They were married on May 12, 1945 a bond that would last the next 62 years. During their marriage they resided in Molena, Georgia, Weatherford, Texas and Brock, Texas. He was a faithful and active member and Deacon of North Side Baptist Church, Brock Baptist Church and Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Molena, Georgia. He worked as an Aircraft Mechanic / Electrician at General Dynamics in Ft. Worth and as most would remember him a TV Repairman here in Weatherford. He retired after 44 years of service to General Dynamics. He was preceded in death by his father Charles Lee Richards, mother Ruby Lee Richards, sister Joan Shadden as well as his daughter Sallie Richards Pelosi. He is survived by his loving wife Mildred "Mickey Cox" Richards, daughters Ysletia Nan Hardee of North Carolina, Beth Ann Richards of Springtown, Texas and sons Ted Taylor Richards, Jr. and Terry Charles Richards both of Weatherford, Texas and foster son Chung Van Huynh of Atlanta, Georgia. He is also survived by his brother Dan Richards of Weatherford, Texas and Sue Freidman of Ft. Worth, Texas. Visitation services will be from 6 to 8 PM Friday at Galbreaith - Pickard Funeral Chapel and interment services will be held at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Molena, Georgia on Monday. The family request that memorial contributions be made to the North Side Baptist Church Building Fund or the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Building Fund in lieu of floral arrangements.
