Theo Lee Peebles, age 81, passed from this life on Thursday, April 14, 2022. He was born on January 17, 1941, to Theo Barnes Peebles and Gussie Eloise Barkow Peebles in Houston, Texas.
Ted enlisted in the USNC in 1959 where he served on active duty for three years. In 1961 he qualified in the Submarine Service and served on the USS Sea Devil. He retired from the Reserve in 1988 as a Senior Chief Electrician’s Mate. Ted also served as a Harris County Sherriff’s Deputy and became Chief Pilot in the helicopter division until he retired in 1980. He then began flying offshore with ERA Aviation until his final retirement in 2006.
Ted had a personality as big as his grand stature. He began, and ended, his life dedicated to serving others. Most of all, Ted served his family. He loved the joy that his boys and grandchildren brought. They all knew Pop’s rule when they saw him, “Big Squeeze first!” Along with his love for family, he was a dedicated Master Mason for over 50 years. In 2019, he served as Deputy District Grand Master of District 65. Theo also enjoyed hunting, fishing, telling tales that lasted for hours, and the camaraderie that accompanied.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Freddie and Bob Peebles.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Ann; his children, Theo W. Peebles of Dallas; Blake B.
