Thomas Leo Tully crossed over into God’s hands while he was sleeping on Wednesday morning, November 17, 2021. He had been suffering from vascular arterial disease since 2004 and cardiovascular arterial disease since 2018.
Tom proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. He served 11 years in active duty, then served in the Air National Guard for 10 years in Van Nuys, California, 12 years with 940 ARWG at Mather AFB, MCClellan AFB and retired on March 3, 1994, from Beale AFB in California. He was also a life member with VFW Post 4746 in Weatherford, Texas. Tom was a faithful supporter of The Wounded Warrior Project; he began donating when it was created and donated every month until his death.
Tom married Helen Freeman on September 24, 1991, and they celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary this year. They moved from Sacramento, California to Weatherford, Texas, in November 2002, making Texas his retirement state.
During his retirement, Tom and his wife traveled from state to state towing their 5th wheel. They enjoyed visiting family and friends, watching NASCAR from various tracks, and viewing the beautiful country. Tom will be remembered as a friendly, outgoing, fun-loving person that always had a positive attitude. He was interesting to speak to and could strike up a conversation with a stranger and by the end of the conversation Tom had a new friend. Without a doubt, Tom will be missed by all who knew him and called him friend.
Tom is survived by his wife, Helen; loving daughter, Colleen and son-in-law, Matt Bullock; grandsons, Matthew and Jayden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adrienne (Jesse) and Leo Tully; brother, Jack; twin brothers, Jesse and James.
Tom will be buried at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery for veterans.
