Thomas Michael Johnston

Thomas Michael Johnston, 72, known to his friends as Mike, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away Monday, February 22, 2021, at his residence. He was born April 9, 1948, in Staten Island, New York, to Thomas and Elizabeth Reardon Johnston. He spent his childhood in Staten Island and New Jersey before heading south to Florida. 

Mike was a commercial real estate agent at Prudential Tropical Realty in Port Richey, Florida for over 25 years before retiring to move to Charlotte, North Carolina, and ultimately Fort Worth to be close to his youngest grandchildren. 

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Most of all, Mike cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Mike was an avid coach and volunteer for numerous youth sports leagues throughout his life. 

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his siblings, Donna McLean and Timmy Johnston. 

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Helga; children, Lisa Riotto and husband, Michael; Jeff Johnston and wife, Ali, and Matt Johnston and wife, Dawn; grandchildren, Jonathon, Alyssa, AJ, Brady, Jacob, Brooke and Beau; sister, Christine Smith and husband, Tom.

A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at a later date in Florida.
