Thomas Truett Bailey, 90, passed away on Sunday, May 28, at his home in Weatherford.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 1, 2017, at North Side Baptist Church, 910 N. Main Street, Weatherford, Texas. Burial will be held at 9:15 a.m., Friday, June 2, at the DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, in Dallas, with military honors. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, in Weatherford.
Truett was born January 28, 1927, to Rev. and Mrs. F.E. Bailey in Melon, Texas. He proudly served his country first in the Marine Corps for 10 years and 3 months seeing action in the Korean War and finishing his 20 years of military service in the USAF. He worked at General Dynamics as an aircraft and engine mechanic for over 25 years.
After retiring, he worked at the Drug Enforcement Agency as a Security Officer. Truett was committed to God, his family and his community. He greeted each day with a positive attitude and had an inquisitive mind. During his lifetime, he worked with R.A.’s in the churches, taught Sunday School, and served as a deacon.
In addition to his parents, Truett was preceded in death by his two brothers, Rev. Lee Keith Bailey and Rev. Marion Wade Bailey; and by his sister, Beverly Frances Hicks.
Truett is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Dollie May Bailey; a daughter, Jacklyn Lynette Bailey; a son, Elmer Dwayne Bailey and wife, Candice; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Evelyn and Mertha Bailey; by nieces, nephews, and by a host of treasured friends.
