Timothy William Tanis was carried into the arms of Jesus on Monday, May 27, 2024. He was born Monday, August 26, 1974, to Leverne Tanis and Sarah Jean Tanis in Westminster, California. Tim was the youngest of six kids.
Tim had a top 4 list that he lived by and never wavered from; God, family (including his puppy), friends, and sports. God was Tim’s rock and the foundation of all the decisions. If it didn’t measure up to the Bible, he didn’t do it. Tim loved his family passionately. He would go to the ends of the earth to make Susan and the kids happy. He didn’t know a stranger; he knew so many people and students by first and last name. To know Tim Tanis is to know his passion for sports. He loved Kobe and the Lakers, but despised Lebron and how he flopped. Win, lose, or tie he was a Super Charger fan till the end, and he loved the Angels even though they always sucked.
Tim’s passion for art was beautiful, he received his BA at Stanislaus State University, where he met the love of his life, Susan Tunick. He went to Fullerton University and there he finished his schooling receiving his Masters in Fine Arts.
They moved to Turlock and married August 4, 2001. Tim worked at Oakdale Country Club and then worked at Turlock Christian for several years. During those years God blessed them with Molly Grace born June 2004, then Grady Samuel born February 2007. He then moved to Escalon Middle School and continued teaching art for eight years.
In California, he built an Art studio for Susan, and a bunny coop, then a chicken coop for Molly; he went full on buying every special breed of chicken he could find. To say Tim loved to win was an understatement. Molly did win with her chickens, pigs, and turkeys. Grady's love of sports made Tim's heart soar and he went to every baseball, basketball, and fishing event that Grady ever competed in. He loved his kids and wife and was always their champion.
Additionally, Tim loved to travel with his football buddies, Robert, John, Shane, and others for the past 20 years. They were his Boys’ Club.
After prayer, a lot of prayer, he packed up his family and moved to Peaster, America. He taught Art in Weatherford for the past two years. Tim loved this area and more importantly the friendships he had made here.
Tim was a member of North Side Baptist Church, in Weatherford; his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ was always the center of his life. Tim knew that his Savior and Lord would carry him home into His loving arms.
Left to carry on his legacy are his beloved wife, Susan Tanis; daughter, Molly Grace Tanis; son, Grady Samuel Tanis; one sister and four brothers. Tim was preceded in death by his mom, Sarah Jean, and dad, Leverne.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at the North Side Baptist Church, in Weatherford, Texas.
