Sergeant First Class Tommy Hawkins answered the call and joined the ranks of Jesus’ army Monday, Feb. 12, 2018. Born on September 1, 1949, Tommy meritoriously served our nation in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War in 1968. He continued his honorable service on active duty in the Texas Army National Guard until his retirement in 2003. Following his long military career, he continued his support of our country as an inspector at Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth, Texas. An avid music lover and musician, he performed in the Lightnin’ Express Band with his best friend Danny Carnley.
He is preceded in death by his beloved mother and father, Bonnie and Clyde Hawkins.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Hawkins of Weatherford Texas, his children Rusty and wife Christine, Dusty and Buffy and their mother Nancy Hawkins; his grandchildren, Tyler, Nichole, Ally, Gunner, Hunter, Kendall, and Katelynn; his siblings, Ronnie Hawkins, Cheryl and husband Doug Williams, Billy and wife Denise Hawkins; and many loved cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 P.M., on Friday, February 16, at the Galbreath Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N. Elm Street, in Weatherford. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 10 A.M., at the Willow Park Baptist Church, in Willow Park. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens with Military Rites.
