Tommy "Tom" Gene Conger, 89, passed from this life on Thursday, June 8, 2023. Tom was born February 6, 1934, in Dallas, Texas to Benjamin Alvin Conger, Sr. and Beulah Mae (Woods) Conger. He married the late Peggy Lura and they celebrated over 65 years of matrimony. They loved Disney and celebrated their 60th and 65th wedding anniversaries in Florida. Tom enjoyed baseball and worked for the Texas Rangers, along with doing commercial printing for many years. Among his many interests were gambling in Vegas and Winstar, collecting treasures including pocket knives, beer steins, and watches; Tom was proud to be tech savvy and he was a huge fan of all ice cream, bingo, and baseball games. His jovial spirit will be missed among his family and his peers.
Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Peggy Conger; daughter, Nila Grace Conger; and grandson, Bradley Chandler Jackson.
Tom is survived by his daughters, Sherry M. Pipkin, Donna S. Debusk, Janet L. Conger, and Julie E. Conger; nine grandchildren, Jeremy, Lori, Mellissa, Clint, Lindsay, Jacob, Samantha, Dylan, and Kennedi; and twelve great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 16, 2023, at North Fort Worth Baptist Church, 5801 I-35W, Fort Worth, Texas 76131, officiated by Stephen Lowry. The family has requested for Cowboys or Rangers jerseys to be worn for the service.
