Troy was born March 5, 1964, in Dallas, Texas. He was the oldest of two sons born to Troy, Jr., and Pat Holcomb. His passion in life was baseball.
He is survived by his mother, Pat Holcomb of Weatherford; his brother, Tracy and wife, Debra of Tyler; his nephew, Joshua, and niece, Hannah (and husband, Dom); and by numerous cousins.
Troy was preceded in death by his father, Troy B. Holcomb, Jr.
Though he was born in Dallas, Troy grew up in Weatherford and attended Weatherford schools. He got involved in basketball and baseball as a Little League player, but his love was baseball. Although he played both sports in high school, he was given a scholarship to play baseball at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. After graduating from HSU, he became a teacher and baseball coach. He was the head baseball coach at Carlisle, Chico, Yorktown, Covington, Carrizo Springs, Edna, and Bloomington ISD’s. He also taught and coached at Altair-Rice Consolidated ISD, Quinlan-Ford and Jacksonville ISD. Besides baseball, he coached football, volleyball, and basketball at one time or another!! He retired from teaching and coaching in May of 2018 after 22 years. During his career, he touched the lives of many young men and women.
In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that memorial gifts be given to the American Diabetes Association.
