Truman Richard (Dean) Daniel was born in Mineral Wells, Texas to Juluis Dean and Jeanie Carol Gene Davis Daniel on April 25, 1946. He passed at Grace Living Center after three months of private care for a brain tumor on August 19th, 2019. Dean grew up in Whitt, Texas, being raised by his grandmother Donie Davis until he was 12 years old. At that time, he moved to Mineral Wells, Texas to be with his mom Carol and step dad Jim Foley. He attended Mineral Wells Jr. and Sr. High school where he graduated in 1964. During this time, he met Fredda Stults from Weatherford, TX. They married early in their courtship and spent 54 years together. Before their marriage he was appointed by the Governor of Texas to the Air Force Academy. After a few months he was injured and was honorably discharged. During his short service he won many awards and achievements. Dean was a great man of knowledge! During his early life, he became pastor of Hilltop Baptist Church and also worked as a map instructor at Fort Walters Texas. In 1978, The Schick Center of Oklahoma hired him to be their director. The Daniel family then moved to Oklahoma City and Dean pursued his education. Over the years Dean received several degrees beginning with an Associate’s degree from Weatherford Jr. College - A Bachelor’s degree from University of Texas at Arlington - A Master’s degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth and a Doctorate degree from Oklahoma State University. Dean became a great teacher, preacher, author and philosopher that led him to several prominent career positions & companies. These include: Director of the Schick Center, Educational Director for Oklahoma’s Restaurant Association, a Dean and professor of two colleges - Oklahoma State University, Okmulgee, and his favorite - Wayland Baptist University at Wichita Falls, Texas, in which he retired from in December 2018. Dean is proceeded in death by his parents and daughter, Stephanie Dawn Daniel. Dean is survived by his wife Fredda, daughter Deena Tice and son-in-law Gene Tice, of Yukon, OK; Shane Daniel, of Ann Arbor Michigan. Three granddaughters: Kristen Green and great grandson, Wyatt Green; Rachel Tice and future grandson-in-law Paul Snider, and Amy Tice. Brother Tom Foley and Margo (sister-in-law) along with two nieces Sara Lee and Kelly Clark, and numerous other loved ones in Weatherford and Mineral Wells. We are celebrating the life and legacy of Truman Richard (Dean) Daniel Saturday, August 24th, 2019 at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel 913. N. Elm St. Weatherford, TX 76086. Visitation will be Saturday, August the 24th - 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. and the funeral service will begin at 5 p.m. There will be no grave side service following.
