Ursula "Joan" Williams (née BATT), 86, passed from this life on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. Joan was born January 22, 1938, in Curling, Newfoundland, to Russell Batt and Marjorie (Musseau) Batt.
Joan is survived by her son, Robert Charles Williams of Weatherford, Texas; daughter and husband, Jo Anne (David) Roblez of Washington, Kansas; grandson, Craig Schweitzer of Houston, Texas; great-granddaughter, Sierra Schweitzer of Houston, Texas; brothers, Sam Batt, John (Anne Marie) Batt, Gordon (Judy) Batt, and Terry (Louise) Batt; sisters, Ena (Bram) Rowsell, and Mary (Derrick) Batt; sisters-in-law, Mary Batt and Glenys Batt; and special friends, Tom and Jean Chilton.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Richard Williams; parents, Russell and Marjorie Batt; brothers, Byron, James, and Frank Batt; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth, Voira, Daliah Batt, and Karen Cernik; brother-in-law, Don Cox; and daughter-in-law, Tae Williams.
Joan lived in Benoit's Cove in her younger years, later moving to Corner Brook, Newfoundland. Being an Air Force wife, she was able to travel all over the world. Finally settling down in Weatherford, Texas where she resided for 37 years. She often looked forward to traveling back to Newfoundland to be with family. Joan will be remembered for her avid interest in the Royal Family, creating a scrapbook of their lives, as well as her vast doll and stamp collections, in addition to her affinity for jewelry she collected and wore. She was a devoted homemaker to her family and adored her pets.
A graveside inurnment will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 8, 2024, at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, Texas 75211.
