Verna Louise Polvado of Sunset, Texas passed away on Friday evening, April 19 at the age of 66.
Verna was born on February 9, 1953 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Virgil and Nelly Owen. She grew up loving the outdoors, and was most often found gardening or riding horses and enjoying the Great Plains of the Midwest. In her late 20s, she met Ronald Polvado and fell deeply in love, eventually marrying the lucky man on June 25, 1982. Two years later, they had Russell Lynn, followed one short year by his sister, Jennifer Renee. They imbedded themselves in the Weatherford, Tx community, where she became a long time member, book keeper, and pianist at Couts United Methodist Church. Verna will long be remembered for her love of the out doors, her kind heart towards all creatures and people in need, her affinity for gardening, her keen ear for music, and her abounding care for her family and loved ones.
Verna is survived by her husband, Ronald; children Russell Polvado and Jennifer and husband Will Dowd; her granddaughters Hailey and Claire Dowd; and by her sisters Wilma Lowell and Martha Holman. In addition to her parents, Verna was preceded in death by her brothers, Clarence and Ray Owen.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 3 P.M. on Sunday, April 28, at the Couts United Methodist Church in Weatherford. Burial will be private.
