Vernon D. Measures

Vernon D. Measures, 82, of Weatherford died Saturday, February 23, 2008 in a local nursing facility. Born March 8, 1925 in Peaster, Texas, a resident of Parker County for many years. Vernon was an Army Veteran serving in Japan during WWII, a retired employee of Brazos Electric Power Plant and a rancher for Headrick Ranches. He was a member of South Main Church of Christ where he was a former Deacon. Vernon was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and devoted neighbor and friend to all who knew him. His first wife; LaMarylis, parents, Lec and Edith Measures, granddaughter, Lori McReynolds and brother, C.L. Measures precedes him in death.       Vernon is survived by his Wife, Sue Measures of Weatherford; daughters, Judy McReynolds and husband Fred of Weatherford, Marilyn Dobbs and husband Jack of Weatherford, Sherry Knight and husband Leslie of Weatherford; sons, Dale Measures of Weatherford and Dale Buchanan and wife Brianna of Princeton, TX.; grandchildren, Tommie McReynolds, Justin Dobbs and wife Shannon, Kimberley Dobbs, Ryan Knight, Nicholas Knight, Krystyn Buchanan, Jordan Buchanan, Preston Orr, Bryson Buchanan and Brenna Buchanan, two great grandchildren.   Funeral service: 10:00 AM, Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at South Main Church of Christ with Minister Murphy Phillips officiating. Visitation: 6-8 PM, Monday at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Weatherford Christian School or the Benevolence Fund at South Main Church of Christ.
